Breeding

Put two pals in a Breeding Farm with a cake and you get a third. Which third is decided by a hidden breeding rank on every pal, unless the pair is one of the 182 special ones the game hard-codes.

How this works

Special pairs come first

The game ships 258 named pairs, of which 182 use pals that are actually in the game. If your two parents are on that list, the listed child is what you get and the ranks are ignored entirely. That is the only way to breed Anubis, Jetragon and the rest of the legendaries.

Everything else uses ranks

Every pal carries a breeding rank. Average the two parents' ranks, round up, and the pal whose own rank sits closest to that number is the child. No rank repeats, so there is never a tie. 258 pals can come out of a farm.

Sex matters twice

For 2 pairs the answer flips depending on which parent is male. Katress and Wixen is the famous one. Everywhere else the pair is symmetric and it does not matter which slot you put a pal in.

Ties go to nine pals

The average often lands exactly between two ranks. The game ships a second field to settle that, and for 9 variant pals it is set by hand low enough to win every tie. Turtacle Terra, Penking Lux and Killamari Primo are three of them. It decides 2,279 pairs.

Some pals cannot be bred

28 of the 286 pals in the Paldeck are flagged so they never come out of a farm, whatever the parents. Those have to be caught, and the calculator will never offer them as a result.

The special pairs, the breeding ranks and the tie-break field are read straight from the game's data tables. The average-and-round-up rule is not shipped anywhere and comes from the community, so it is checked here against a property the game must satisfy: a pal bred with itself has to produce itself. All 258 breedable pals pass. Note that ranks were rescaled in later patches, so a recipe you remember from launch may no longer hold.
